For fi nancial and religion reasons (he was Catholic and Barbara Protes tant) could not marry officially. Immigrated to Syracuse, New Yo rk in the early 1870's where he worked as a musician. He sent mo ney to support Barbara and the boys and their education. He want ed family to come to America but Barbara would not leave Switzer land. Sent money for boys to immigrate to America. Anton subsequ ently remarried in America, moved to St.Louis, Missouri. Nothin g further is known of him.
