51 | [DavOchsner01.FTW] Phil's mother Jimmie Sue was married to a man who served in th e military and in 1948, during the Korean War, he was called u p for active duty. While he was away Jimmie Sue and her husband's best friend Clift on Edwin Griffin became involved (he too was married). She becam e pregnant with Clifton's child. When her husband returned she t ried convince him that the child she was carrying was his. Well , he figured things out and realized that the child could not b e his. He learned the truth and left her while pregnant and late r they divorced. The truth about this child was never revealed t o anyone other than she and her husband as well as Clifton and h is wife. Her family of course knew. Years passed and Jimmie Sue married again. Her husband later ado pted Phil giving him the Sessions name. However he was always to ld he was the son of her first husband. Somehow for whatever rea son he questioned that through the years and the story she told . After his mother passed away in November of 2000, Phil began a sking questions. One of his Aunts revealed the truth to Phil an d a cousin had the name of his biological father. That is wher e our search began. Computer searches brought us back to the place he was born. We t hen found a son thinking it was his father. He spoke with the so n they call Eddie. He was very open minded especially as we exch anged pictures and they saw as well as we how much Phil actuall y looked like his biological father. However they needed more. P hil came up with information that they did not even know the spe cifics on but had heard of in the past. Their was only one perso n left, Clifton's wife Anne, who could confirm this truth that P hil was the son of Clifton Griffin. The son Eddie had told her a bout Phil and she confirmed that his father and Jimmie Sue did h ave a son together. Unfortunately this had been a secret burie d for years that they thought would never reveal itself at leas t while they were alive and was a bit upsetting to her as we ca n imagine. But that is the story and his biological father is Clifton Edwi n Griffin. Hence, Philip Wayne Griffin Sessions. | SESSIONS, Philip Wayne (I421)

53 | [DavOchsner01.FTW] Prior to the entry of the United States into the war, Canada ha d established army-recruiting centers in the Great Lakes area. M y brother William, only fifteen years old at the time, and fire d up with enthusiasm for the war, enlisted in the Canadian Army . He was stopped before he managed to leave the city and my pare nts managed to have his enlistment cancelled. Later, after he tu rned sixteen, William managed to enlist in the U.S. Army by stat ing his age as eighteen and his birthplace as elsewhere than Cle veland. A few days after he had disappeared from home, we receiv ed a letter from him mailed from Columbus, Ohio. He said he ha d enlisted again and they should not get him out as he would re- enlist and not let them know his whereabouts. He was assigned t o a light artillery battalion in the 90th Division, mostly staff ed by westerners from Texas and Oklahoma. He served in France t o the end of the war and after the Armistice remained with the A rmy of Occupation on the Rhine River in Germany. Several years l ater, William rejoined the army, this time going to Panama, th e Philippine Islands and finally to Tientsin, China. We did no t see him for fours years, the last year of which he was on hi s own, playing piano for a living. | OCHSNER, William Oscar (I452)

73 | [DavOchsner01.FTW] Through the years there has been much discussion and speculatio n concerning the paternal ancestry of Barbara's four sons (on e died as a child in Switzerland). For unknown reasons, any know ledge the boys may have had about their fathers was not passed d own. It should also be noted that Barbara saw only her son Emi l (and his spouse Mina) and grandson Eugene after her three son s emigrated to America. In early 2003, however, a professional g enealogist in Switzerland, based on church records in Oberhallau , has determined that Emil, Oscar, and Jacob each had a differen t father. Two of the fathers are named in the records but the th ird is unnamed. The results of this disclosure are shown in thi s family tree. About 1880, apparently after Anton emigrated to America, Barbar a left Oberhallau and went to work for Dr. Eduard Bringolf in Un terhallau (Hallau). After Eduard died she worked for his brothe r and later for the younger family Bringolf-Rahm for several yea rs. Finally, she was employed by the family von Arx-Bringolf. Sh e worked for two generations in each of these families for abou t fifty years. She was loved and estimed by everyone and describ ed as silent, peacable, diligent and always very agreeable. | Ochsner, Barbara (I23)
